Specialising in Gibson and Fender instruments from the 60's and 70's.
For sale is this supercool 1986 Fender 57 Stratocaster Re-issue.
These 1986 guitars are some of the rarest, as they were put together at the Corona plant from parts made in Fullerton before that plant was shut down. At that time Fender guitar output was VERY low with as few as six highly skilled guys setting up the new production line at Corona. In 1986 they were producing less than 10 guitars per day !
This guitar is an all original example and is in great shape for a 28 year old. Of course, it has some lacquer cracks due to wood expansion and some very minor edge wear in one spot only, just under were your arm would rest. The single ply pickguard is still in one piece. It has minor warping between the screws, a couple of tiny cracks at the screw holes and has shrunk very slightly. It has turned a cool shade of cream in places. The back of the guard is still bone white.
The neck feels delightful to play. It is a highly figured tiger stripe maple, one piece construction with skunk stripe rosewood strip to the rear over the truss rod. The lacquer on the fretboard is worn away quite heavily. The headstock has had an overspray of clear nitro to help prevent the logo from totally flaking off. Some is missing, hence the overspray. Neck is dated 3-10-86 and serial number is V031357.
Pickups are black fibre bottomed with staggered polepieces and all sound outstanding. The electronics and pickups are all original. The five way switch option that came with these guitars has been fitted. 3 way switch has long been lost.
Serial number on neck plate is V031357.
Plays and sounds great! Appreciating asset !
These Corona built Re-Issue Stratocasters are set to increase in value markedly, the Fullerton models built between 82 and the plants closing in 85 are considered to be the best built Strats since the originals of the 50s and 60s and are priced accordingly high. These 86 and early 87 models are put together with stock that was moved from the old factory and put together while the new production line was still being organised.
Comes with its original 86 tweed case with no busted catches or hinges, all case goodies, strap, bridge cover and two spare trem springs.
